In Kudus Fateh Selahaddin Eyyubi Season 2, Episode 31, we’re drawn into a tense episode filled with unexpected danger and resilience. Saladin finds himself ambushed by Crusader soldiers disguised as allies, who attack him in the forest. His guards are swiftly eliminated, and Saladin is thrown into a deep well, left with no hope of escape. Days pass, and with Saladin missing, his family, including his parents Najm al-Din Ayyub and Fatimah Khatun, and Sultan Nur al-Din, become increasingly worried. Their search yields nothing, raising the stakes as fear grows over Saladin’s fate.
Saladin remains steadfast despite being trapped and injured. Turning to his faith, he prays for strength, making repeated but unsuccessful attempts to climb out of the well. His patience and endurance pay off when Balian, the brother of the commander of Elbin Castle, stumbles upon him. Balian, initially searching for water, is startled to hear Saladin’s voice from within the well. Without hesitation, he rescues the weakened Saladin, treating his wounds and helping him onto his horse as they set off toward Syria. Their journey is short-lived, however, as soldiers capture them, throwing both men into slave cages, raising questions about whether they’ll ever reach safety.
Meanwhile, Sultan Nur al-Din’s concerns grow due to both Saladin’s absence and Jerusalem’s instability. His trusted advisor, Judge Fazlullah, brings troubling news from Egypt: the people suffer under the brutal minister Dirgham, who has allied with the Crusaders and allowed them to infiltrate Cairo. Recognizing the dangers, Sultan Nur al-Din dispatches his advisor Shirkuh with a force to aid the Egyptians, even as he continues to search for Saladin in Jerusalem.
The episode also spotlights Judge Fazlullah’s tactical skills, as he manages to infiltrate Dirgham’s court by feigning loyalty. His espionage opens up potential pathways for Saladin and Sultan Nur al-Din to reclaim control.
Saladin and Balian face a deadly trial when they are thrown into an arena to battle for their lives against captives and wild animals. Demonstrating skill, strategy, and courage, the two men fend off their attackers and survive, proving themselves formidable even under captivity.
At the same time, Sultan Nur al-Din confronts the new Crusader ruler of Jerusalem, who denies knowledge of Saladin’s disappearance. Refusing to engage further, Nur al-Din asserts that Jerusalem is a sacred trust of the Muslim community, vowing to liberate it.
As the episode culminates, Balian and Saladin recognize each other’s significance and beliefs, sparking a passionate exchange about Jerusalem. Balian insists it belongs to Jesus, while Saladin asserts its ties to Al-Aqsa and the Muslim heritage. This intense dialogue captures the essence of their ideological clash and sets up powerful stakes for what’s to come.
