The attacks and traps appear to be creating mistrust at precisely the right moment. If Mehmed and Uzun Hasan react emotionally, their enemies may achieve their objective without having to defeat either ruler directly.
Sultan Mehmed must therefore separate truth from deception before making his next move.
That is easier said than done when the lives of trusted commanders are at risk.
Another major question in Episode 86 concerns Saruca Paşa.
His injuries are serious, and his survival could have consequences beyond his own life. If Saruca dies, the demand for revenge will become much stronger. If he survives, his testimony may help Mehmed understand what really happened.
This makes Saruca one of the most important pieces in the political puzzle.
Mehmed is already searching for those responsible for the attack, but he is also waiting anxiously for news from Tabriz. He cannot focus entirely on one crisis because another is developing at the same time. For the Sultan, every hour matters.
